Late-onset multiple system atrophy remains a diagnostic challenge

Late-onset multiple system atrophy (LO-MSA) is associated with a poor prognosis and remains diagnostically challenging, according to new research presented at AAN 2022.

Typically, a diagnosis of MSA is not supported if the age of onset is more than 75 years. However, some patients will develop MSA after age 75 years, and the clinical and pathological characteristics of LO-MSA are not fully understood.
