Takeaway
Short educational video interventions about future disability risk associated with chronic lower back pain (CLBP) may increase biopsychosocial knowledge, overcome associated attitude barriers, and facilitate development of clinical judgement-making more aligned with psychological cues.
Why this matters
The flags approach integrates cognitive and behavioral approaches to treat people with CLBP by identifying biopsychosocial barriers to recovery is part of international guidelines and has been shown effective; however, physicians’ adherence to the guidelines is low.
Medical students and general practitioners (GP) trainees might be more receptive to psychosocial influences in CLBP and therefore more likely to adopt the flags approach.
