Cognitively unimpaired older adults who cope with stress better have a lower tau burden

  • Higher stress coping ability is linked to lower tau burden in aging and amyloid-positive cognitively normal older adults.

Why this matters

This is the first study to investigate the link between stress responses and in vivo tau measurements using flortaucipir positron emission tomography. Measuring the ability to cope with stress could prove to be clinically relevant in the aging population.
